For those of you who may be curious, I included some details below about the rebrand. I’m a marketer by trade, so this stuff is always pretty fun for me and maybe it is for you, too. I absolutely loved working on MY OWN brand, and leveraging on my experience of building brands in my corporate career.
I knew I wanted to refresh the Finishing Fairy brand for a few reasons:
For starters, I disliked almost everything I put out there visually. You can only have so much kelly green. You may recall that my first brand (LOL) was a simple topiary on green. I liked this very random `icon I picked from the Canva options, but it never felt truly me. I loved the name Finishing Fairy, and knew keeping that was a must.
The Needlepoint Finishing Club has grown beyond my wildest dreams, but that’s only part of what I do. I wanted to create a brand system that would support growth in other aspects of my business, including workshops, mini-courses, and a new finishing-focused micro shop online.
I tapped my friends at Iris Design Collaborative, with whom I’ve worked with on corporate projects, and I knew my pal Nick would do a great job because of past projects we’ve worked on together.
Thinking about where we wanted to head, I wanted: fun! colorful! an expressive celebration of the magic! (Instead of woodland faerie). I wanted to lean more into the stars, simply because that’s more my personality. Thinking about the iconography of the stars and constantly inspired by MCM interiors, Samantha of Bewitched came to mind. This set the spark for the whole brand theme.
I went down an absolute rabbit hole digging up all the MCM star icons I could find, leaning into bold rainbows, and finding clever illustrative styles that felt modern but grounded.
And because I’m nothing without the expertise of friends, I worked with my friend Maddie who is leading many aspects of marketing for Finishing Fairy, and Dana (my personal brand stylist) to round out the visuals by sourcing inspiration for the logo.
After a few revisions, Nick turned around an absolutely beautiful brand system, and I’m excited to implement this across both Finishing Fairy and The Needlepoint Finishing Club.
There’s more to come, including a photoshoot this weekend, but I’m excited for this new direction and investing in the things that make this venture feel more real.
Thanks for reading.
Love it all!! 💕
Spectacular!💫✨
