More Dates Added: Rounds, Gusseted Ornaments, and Gusseted Standups
Join us for upcoming Finish-Alongs
Thank you so much for your enthusiasm about the Finish-Alongs early next year. We've reached what I think is a reasonable capacity for an interactive and supportive environment, so I have closed registration for the first series of these events.
I have added an additional series (dates below). If you didn't snag a spot in the first series, I hope you join us!
Like I mentioned in the first article, Round Ornaments, Gusseted Standups, and Gusseted Ornaments all start with the same first steps:
Lacing the needlepoint on a matboard
Lacing fabric to the matboard
Making cording
From there, you can build a bunch of cool things including the projects I’ll cover in this Finish-Along series.
What’s a Finish-Along?
We live finish a needlepoint project together.
With so many fabulous videos already out there on finishing topics, these events are focused on troubleshooting, support, and helping you gain confidence with your finishes. We do it together.
I’ll show you my best practices, alternatives that may work better for you, and help you troubleshoot when things don’t go perfectly.
You can come and stitch, take notes, or go all-in and finish your projects along with me using fabric, a blank canvas, or a stitched needlepoint canvas.
BYO Supplies
Supplies are not provided, but I will send you a detailed materials list when you register.
Come as you are.
I’m a Midwest gal with a finishing workshop in my not-very-pretty basement. I have the confidence to try any finish once and a come-as-you-are attitude. I’ll probably be wearing a hoodie and glasses. Needlepoint can be intimidating but these Finish-Along aren’t (at least I hope not).
FAQs
Are Finish-Alongs free?
These Finish-Alongs are a benefit for Substack subscribers–no additional cost for instruction. Materials are BYO and I’ll email you a list of materials in the new year.
Where are they?
On Zoom
What If I can’t attend?
No need to register to get the recording - I’ll share it in the subscriber community.
Will you be doing additional topics?
Yes. Let me know what you want to see. Thinking of a soft goods series next.
Can you do different times?
I have two little kids and a full time corporate job. While I hope you can attend the times I have available, I understand that might not work. I suggest re-watching the recordings and please feel free to send questions (Subscriber chat is a great place to do this).
Session Descriptions
Part 1: Prep Work Party
This session will cover preparing and assembling the following parts that you’ll need for part 2 (needlepoint-covered matboard front, fabric-covered matboard back, twist cording).
Help! I can’t make it but want to do a session 2! I will send this recording to anyone who registers for a Session 2. You can complete the work on your own and message me on Substack with any questions if you get stuck. You can also reference my free resources that cover these topics.
Part 2: Choose your finish(es)
Join for one or all; these sessions are each different and will build on the materials you prepared at the Prep Work Party. I’ll get registrants a detailed list of supplies after the new year.
Round Ornament:
Hang on the line after the Prep Work Party and I’ll show you how to assemble your round needlepoint ornament and attach your cording for a seamless, professional look.
Gusseted Ornament:
This is a great next step into 3D finishes if you’ve finished a round or square ornament before.
Gusseted Standup:
This is a great finish if you’re fairly comfortable with finishing square or rectangle ornaments and are fairly confident sewing on cording.
