Supplies and Materials
First Steps
I highly recommend you start with a round ornament. You can view my free PDF guide in the “How to Finish A Round Ornament” article below, or access the accompanying step-by-step video by becoming a member.
You may find the following resources also helpful as a beginner.
Intermediate
Once you’ve mastered rounds and rectangles, you can move on to more intermediate topics. The Tutorial: Needlepoint Star Ornament is totally free and serves as a representative sample resource for the level of detail you get on all tutorials as a member, so check it out!
Branching into more advanced topics like 3D requires mastery and practice of joining twisted cording. Start with Tutorial: Joining Twisted Cording (Free) and then move on to other fun topics like acrylic foot standups or coasters to get some practice.
Standups and 3D
Standups, 3Ds and gussets are a fun next step once you’re comfortable with joining cording as we outlined above.
Soft Finishes
This list includes anything I used a sewing machine to finish.
